Coca-Cola European Partners awarded position on CDP 2018 A List

Today, Coca-Cola European Partners (CCEP) has been identified as a global leader on environmental performance and awarded a position on the 2018 CDP A List for climate change and water security – for the third consecutive year.

CDP publishes A to D- scores on major companies acting on climate change, water security and deforestation, with the leaders celebrated on the prestigious A List. In 2018, more than 7,000 companies disclosed through CDP for independent assessment against its scoring methodology – only 2% of those companies make the CDP A List.

CCEP is one of only 19 companies to score an A for both climate and water. This achievement is in recognition of its actions to manage environmental risks; cut carbon emissions; enhance water stewardship; and demonstrate best practices associated with environmental leadership, such as setting ambitious and meaningful targets.

Joe Franses, VP of Sustainability for Coca-Cola European Partners, said: “We are continuously looking to drive change, and deliver business growth in a responsible and sustainable way. Scoring an A for both climate and water, and being recognised by CDP as one of the world’s leading sustainable businesses, is something we are proud of.

“Reporting standards show no sign of standing still due to the rising urgency of global environmental challenges and this result is even more significant as CDP updated its scoring methodology in 2018. This clearly demonstrates the progress we are making to deliver our sustainability goals, and challenge ourselves as a business to stretch our targets.

“We have a huge responsibility to ensure we are adapting to the pace of change and continually improve the sustainability of our entire operations. There is a long road to travel but I’m confident that we will achieve our goals.”

This position on the CDP lists follows CCEP’s inclusion on the Dow Jones Sustainability World and Europe Indices last year.

The climate change and water security A Lists are published by CDP each year alongside a similar list for leadership on tackling deforestation.
